Why Learning for Change for employers?

We understand operational reality.

Shift patterns, multilingual teams, retention pressure, digital systems, compliance communication.

We integrate English and Digital.

Because modern jobs require both.

We build long-term progression.

Not one-off workshops but structured workforce development with measurable outcomes.

Our founding team has over 15 years of experience designing and delivering workplace English and digital skills programmes – including the Premier Inn programme, which produced measurable improvements in staff communication, confidence, and retention, and was cited by Whitbread as a reference model for workforce development practice.

Many of our programmes are fully funded for eligible employees – at no cost to your organisation. We handle all eligibility checks and paperwork.

We are building toward a structured employment pathway guarantee: from 2027, qualifying graduates will receive a named employer interview within three months of completing the dual English and Digital programme.

Every employer contract we deliver contributes to funding a free place for a community learner.

Our priority sectors.

We have built our employer programme around four sectors where the English and digital skills gap is most acute – and where the right training produces the strongest, most measurable outcomes for both employees and employers.

Our founding expertise is in hospitality and experience. The Premier Inn programme is our proof of concept. We are now building the same integrated model across retail, logistics, and creative and digital.

Hospitality & Experience

Our founding sector. Over 15 years of delivery experience, including a nationally recognised workplace programme across Premier Inn hotels. We know the demands of a 24-hour, multilingual, customer-facing workforce – the shift patterns, the turnover pressures, the language of service. This is where we built the model.

What we deliver:

  • ESOL for customer service, safety briefings, and frontline team communication – at every level
  • Functional Skills English for employees who need a formally recognised English qualification, regardless of background or first language
  • Digital Skills for Work – booking systems, digital scheduling tools, and hospitality apps
  • English + Digital integrated – the Premier Inn model, built around your job roles, site, and rota
  • Pre-arrival English and digital preparation for internationally recruited hospitality staff – from 2027

Retail

Retail teams are increasingly multilingual, digitally dependent, and customer-facing at pace. From self-checkout systems to e-commerce platforms and digital stock management, the gap between what employees can do and what the job now requires is widening. Communication – with customers, with colleagues, and in writing – is the day-to-day performance challenge no standard training catalogue addresses properly.

What we deliver:

  • ESOL for customer service communication and frontline workplace English
  • Functional Skills English for employees who need a recognised qualification, open to anyone regardless of background or first language
  • Digital Skills for Work – e-commerce tools, digital customer service, self-checkout and stock management
  • English + Digital for Retail – integrated programme built around your job roles and customer journey

Logistics

Logistics and supply chain operations depend on clear communication, digital compliance, and the ability to follow and communicate safety-critical instructions accurately. Multilingual workforces are the norm across warehousing, distribution, and transport. Digital systems – warehouse management, route planning, dispatch apps – require growing digital literacy from frontline staff. The cost of miscommunication or digital exclusion in logistics is measurable, avoidable, and directly addressable.

What we deliver:

  • ESOL for safety compliance communication, team briefings, and workplace English
  • Functional Skills English for employees who need a recognised qualification, open to anyone regardless of background or first language
  • Digital Skills for Work – warehouse management systems, digital scheduling, dispatch apps
  • English + Digital for Logistics – integrated programme built around your operation and shift structure

Creative & Digital

The creative and digital sector employs a highly international workforce – designers, developers, content creators, and technologists who are often exceptional at their craft but navigating English as an additional language in a fast-moving, communication-intensive environment. At the same time, Learning for Change’s digital career pathways – web development, UX, data analytics, digital marketing – offer a direct pipeline into creative and digital employment for learners progressing through our ESOL and Digital Skills programmes.

What we deliver:

  • English for Work – professional communication and written English for creative environments
  • IELTS preparation for internationally recruited creatives and technologists
  • Digital career pathways – web development, UX, digital marketing, data analytics (phased from 2027)
  • English for Digital Careers – advanced English combined with technical communication

How employer partnerships work

  1. Initial conversation

We meet to understand your business, your teams, and what you need.

  2. Workforce needs assessment

We map the skills gaps, language levels, and roles where training will make a difference.

  3. Funding eligibility review

We check which employees qualify for funded training and handle the paperwork.

  4. Programme design

We design the programme around your shift patterns, sector, and workforce.

  5. Delivery (onsite, online, or blended)

We deliver onsite, online, or blended — whichever fits your operation.

  6. Outcome tracking and reporting

We track progress and report on outcomes throughout the programme.

Not in our four priority sectors?

Our four priority sectors are where we have built specific expertise. But our English and digital skills programmes work across any sector – the language of the job changes, but the approach is the same.

If your sector isn’t listed, get in touch. Let’s build something great together.
